5:17PM - Self-Image
So, this comm has been incredibly quiet for a couple of years now.
*blows some dust off and watches a couple of tumbleweeds drift past*
I've had a couple of pokes from members wistful over the silence recently, so perhaps it's time to shake the cobwebs off and rank it up again!
To start it up, today's post is about self-image. How does your self-image differ from the physical reality? How do other people see you, and how much is this at odds with how you see yourself? Would you change to fit your inner self if you could?
Usual rules apply - anon commenting enabled, IP logging off - away you go!

4:50PM - Shameless and Blameless
What's the worst thing you've done, that someone else got the blame for?
I have spent most of Christmas surrounded by sprout-eating Irishmen with a talent for casting accusatory looks at their neighbours, and it occurs to me that this is actually a valuable skill in 21st-Century society. The accusatory looks, I mean, the skill of ensuring that some other sap gets the blame, the odium and the disciplinary hearing.
So confess your sordid and disgraceful deeds, and tell us how it is that someone else got blamed.

3:40PM - What You Can't Say?
Paul Graham wrote a long and interesting essay on What you can't say?
What do you believe to be true but are normally reluctant to say for fear of the reaction?

4:00PM - A confession about debt
Are you in debt at the moment? Doesn't necessarily have to be a financial debt, could be a debt to someone who has helped you out with their time or energy. Do you think that you're going to repay that debt? Is it fair that you're in the situation of being in debt?
Conversely is anyone in debt to you? Do you think they'll ever repay you or have you just written it off as a "bad debt"? How do you feel towards that person who is in debt to you?

What is the worst thing you have every wished upon somebody and actually ment? Did it every become reality? Did you ever regret thinking it?
Thursday, June 15, 2006
When is the last time you cried? Why did you cry? Were you alone, or with someone else? Did you feel better afterwards, or worse?
Tuesday, June 13, 2006
If you could magically change one thing about someone else's life, who would you choose and what would you change?
Would you be altruistic and improve their life, or would you take the opportunity to get revenge?
Friday, May 5, 2006
We've all done it; thought of the perfect, witty retort ... about 4 hours after the conversation actually ended.
So, what did you actually say, who did you say it to - and what should you have really said?

12:20PM - Confess the truth, part II
A while back I asked you the worse question you could be asked.
Now imagine, for some reason or other, the Men in Black owed you a favour and they were offering to find one person of your choice, strap them to a polygraph, feed them truth serum and make them promise to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and they'd know if they didn't. Afterward they'd get out the neuralizers and the person would have no memory of the event.
Who would you choose and what question would you ask?

8:35PM - Worst thing.
Today, I remembered a time when someone asked me what the worst thing I have ever done was.
I have done a few things that I'm not proud of, but I was curious to see the types of things others have done.
So... What is it? What's the worst thing *or things* you've ever done?

5:46PM - Random damage
Have you ever secretly wished that you could turn up to work one morning and find the office building is gone?
Picture the scene: a police cordon with a huge smoking crater in the middle of it, the Fire Brigade in attendance and Men From The Ministry peering over the edge with monitoring equipment on a long, long pole.
What imaginary scenes of apocalyptic violence replace your place of work and the denizens therein?
( We're not bad people, but sometimes we're not very nice...Collapse )

What do you fantasise about?
I don't necessarily mean sexual fantasies. What we're talking about here are day-dreams, those idle thoughts you have when you end up staring off into space wondering "what if?".

So, admit it - which of you has been trawling 14022006 and 21406 hopefully, looking for your own name?
Did you find it? Were there fewer mentions than last year - or none at all? Depressing, huh?
Do you stare hard at the more cryptic ones addressed only to a letter, trying to figure out if they were addressed to you - or try to kid yourself they were when you know they probably weren't, really?
Share your valentine dissappointments here.

2:22AM - Sins of Omission
What do you leave off your CV?
( mine somehow fails to mention everything...Collapse )
And I flatly deny that I have ever learned or written COBOL.
I suspect that there are far worse things missing from yours... Confess all.

12:09PM - Millstone confession
What's dragging you down at the moment? What's sapping you of energy, grinding away at your will to get up in the mornings, or just generally making life seem like a chore. Could be financial burdens, relationship problems, health issues or something else.

11:06PM - Travel fears?
Loads of people are afraid of flying; it's a common fear. But what about other forms of transport? Are you bothered by buses? Do trams terrify you? Is there a reason for your apprehensions, or is it a strange nebulous fealing of unease for which you have no explanation?
Share your confessions on the subject of transportation fears!

11:32PM - An angry confession
Are you an angry person? What does it take to flip your switch? Do you try to control your anger, or do you just give it full vent?
Have you ever had a "red mist" moment, where you have no memory of what happened during that time?
What's the worse thing you've done while angry?

9:25AM - Fake confessions
How often do you "fake it"? Are you always skiving off work ill when actually you're feeling fine, or exaggerate illness or other bad events in your life to get sympathy? Do you blag your way into clubs, lie at job interviews or pretend to be an expert on something you know nothing about?
Do you have a friend who you think is faking it. Are they always coming up with wild stories that you never quite believe? Does what they say never quite tie up with the known facts? Have you ever confronted them about it?
Tuesday, July 26, 2005
Everyone makes assumptions. We know we shouldn't do it, but it happens anyway; we make assumptions about our friends, and they in turn make assumptions about us.
Was does everyone assume about you? How far off-base are they, and how surprised/shocked would they be if they knew the truth? Will you set them straight, or is it easier to go along with it all?
